Convection heating is a form of heat transfer from a heated object to another being by the movement of fluid. Advantages Of Convection Heaters

  • The benefit of a convection heater is that the heat will be distributed in an even manner around the room. 
  • Employs a physical contact heating method that does not rely on combustion or radiation, and thus is safer than a gas stove for a home kitchen.
  • The main benefit of conduction heaters is that they cost less to operate than electric radiant, convection ovens.
  • Heat can be transferred nearly instantaneously over very short distances. 

Disadvantages Of Convection Heaters

  • The main disadvantage of convection heaters is the lack of heating distribution. Just like in science, when molecules are near each other, they create an environment where no matter how hot they are, it will all stay at the same temperature. 
  • It causes hot spots because more ingredients are exposed to direct heat as temperatures increase.
  • Depletes oxygen because it heats the air. This can be damaging to respiratory systems.
  • Pollutes the environment with carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide. 
  • The only disadvantage of a convection heater is that it doesn't blow room temperatures around, and can produce high levels of heat quite quickly.
  • The surface is likely to accumulate a layer of dust and dirt. On most types, this is easily dealt with by the addition of a non-stick mopping cloth to the cleaning kit.

I have found the convection heater better for our large open plan living dining kitchen area. I prefer oil heaters for bedrooms bathroom or hallways
